Privacy Policy

Effective October 27, 2026

Smith Law Firm, A Professional Law Corporation (“the firm,” “we,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information is collected when you visit smithlf.com or contact the firm through it, how that information is used, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Information you choose to send us

When you request a consultation, email us, or call the office, you may give us information such as your name, phone number, email address, the type of matter, and a description of your situation.

The consultation form on this website does not store your information on our website. When you submit it, the form opens your own email program with a message addressed to the firm. Nothing is sent to us unless you choose to send that email.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, this site’s hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when pages are requested, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you view, the referring page, and the date and time of your visit. This information is used to deliver the website, keep it secure, and diagnose problems.

The site displays its typefaces using Google Fonts. To deliver those fonts, Google receives your IP address and browser information. Google’s handling of that information is described in Google’s own privacy policy.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not use cookies, analytics tools, advertising pixels, or other tracking technologies, and it does not track visitors over time or across other websites.

How we use information

  • To respond to your inquiry and evaluate whether the firm can assist you
  • To check for conflicts of interest, as required of attorneys
  • To provide legal services if you become a client
  • To operate, maintain, and protect the website
  • To comply with legal and professional obligations

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share information only as needed with service providers that support our operations, such as our website host and our email provider, and when required by law, court order, or the rules of professional conduct.

Confidentiality and attorney-client relationship

Contacting the firm through this website, by email, or by phone does not create an attorney-client relationship. An attorney-client relationship is formed only after the firm has agreed to represent you, usually in a written engagement agreement.

Please do not send confidential, sensitive, or time-sensitive information through this website or by email until the firm has confirmed that it can represent you. Email is not a fully secure method of communication.

How long we keep information

We keep the information you send us for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to you, to maintain conflict-of-interest records, to represent you if you become a client, and to meet legal and professional record-keeping requirements.

Security

The website is served over a secure, encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and we use reasonable measures to protect the information we receive. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and California privacy rights

You may ask to review, correct, or delete personal information you have provided to the firm by contacting us using the information below. We will respond as required by applicable law. Some information may need to be kept to meet our legal and professional obligations, including conflict-of-interest records.

California residents may have additional rights under California law. You will not be treated differently for making a privacy request.

Do Not Track signals

Some browsers send “Do Not Track” signals. Because this website does not track visitors over time or across other websites, it does not respond differently to those signals.

Children

This website is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them through the website. If a minor needs legal help, a parent or guardian should contact the firm.

Links to other websites

This website may link to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
